Extreme machinery accidents on construction sites? Let us take care of it!

Extreme situations on construction sites can cause serious damage to our lifting equipment. Dealing with such failures quickly and efficiently is essential to avoid significant delays to the project. In this blog post, we’ll explain how we manage machine damage, how we ensure that fault reporting and damage assessment is carried out in a fluid manner, and how we repair and replace machines.

Where and to whom can I report the problem?

Processing error reports quickly and accurately is essential for us. Therefore, we only accept written reports, which can be sent to us through the following channels:
  • SMS: messages sent to our emergency phone number +36 30 269 3359 will be forwarded to the service e-mail address.
  • E-mail: error reports should be sent to szerviz@mateco-hungary.hu where they will be processed quickly.
  • Reporting by phone: +36 30 269 3359 If a report is received by phone and the problem cannot be solved immediately, we will ask you to report the problem in writing.

How fast are we?

We give ourselves 15 minutes to record SMS and email notifications to ensure a quick response.

When do you need to replace a machine?

If the machine suffers a serious fault that cannot be repaired on site, we will decide to replace it. Machine replacement always requires prior approval to ensure efficient and transparent processes.

What do we mean by a fault resulting from heavy machinery use?

We saw a lot of interesting things, for sure! It's almost natural that the hoists get scratched, dented, or the lettering can wear off.

However, sometimes the machines can be subjected to more serious impacts...

  • What does it take for a work basket to lose its original shape…?
  • How can the platform operator cover break into pieces?
  • Before the machine crashes, which is the moment that literally decides everything…?
  • What do you encounter in a cockpit where the plexiglass is punctured and shattered to pieces?
  • What was the special task of the heron that ended up in a wave shape?
  • What did that wheel run over to became completely flat?
These are the most visible damages, but of course the damage in electrical cables, hydraulic pipe ruptures and other non-visible failures can also be serious.

Claims on the spot

If a machine is damaged, it must be thoroughly documented. Whether the breakdown is reported by our customers or discovered by our technicians, two things are possible:
  • the problem does not prevent safe working, but the machine will certainly not pass the structural test
  • the problem prevents you from working safely – we lock the machine and arrange for its repair
The claims process ensures that all problems are handled properly.
Damage categorisation: all damage is accurately identified and documented, as without accurate administration we would not be able to ensure that all damage is dealt quickly and professionally.

What checks precede the return of the machines?

Before returning machinery to the site, the driver must carry out a Hot checkup. This involves the driver first assessing the condition of the machine at the rental location, documenting any serious damage with photographs and notifying the Service Department.
